Wales Village Hall, located downtown on Main Street near the original train station, is managed by the Village Clerk, staff and appointed officials who take a sincere and caring interest in the Village and its development. Village departments include Inspection, Public Works, Recreation, Board, Village Hall, and Fire Department. The Village Clerk runs day-to-day operations of Village Hall and oversees an array of committees. The Wales Genesee Volunteer Fire Department, which was established in 1923, protects the citizens of Wales with a modern state-of-the-art fire station, dispatch operations and fire apparatus. The full-time fire chief, Jim Moon, and a highly trained volunteer crew of firefighters and EMS, all whom reside within four minutes or less of the station, are personally committed to the meeting the daily safety needs of the thriving Wales Genesee community. Thanks to the efforts of a group of dedicated men and women, the Wales Genesee Fire Department proudly serves the growing community. The Village of Wales and Town of Genesee residents along with residents from outside the area serve as paid on call volunteers and are trained as firefighters and emergency medical technicians (EMT). Both the communities and the fire department are growing and we are looking for more dedicated people interested in helping the communities and accepting the challenge of an exciting and rewarding career in the fire service.
